Hoteliers project a significant increase in demand for the Super Bowl’s host city of New Orleans. According to TravelClick, committed occupancy and ADR are up 51 percent and 126.9 percent for the period of Friday through Monday.
On Sunday, February 3rd, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will host the National Football League’s San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens. The New Orleans stadium has hosted nine Super Bowls previously, with the most recent in 2002. Consequently the New Orleans hotel association has facilitated in collaborations between the city’s hoteliers throughout the year. 


Several New Orleans hotels are sold out this weekend, including all six Courtyards by Marriott hotels in the area, the NFL’s official hotel partner. According to Mavis Early, executive director of the Greater New Orleans Hotel & Lodging Association, the New Orleans hotels are 99.4 percent full and offering higher rates than usual. However, the NFL previously contracted out a majority of room nights and negotiated the ADR, leaving only a small percentage of rooms for the general population. According to STR, ADR has had double to triple digit increases in the most recent host cities of the Super Bowl.
