Acting as a catalyst for new ideas in hotel design, The Radical Innovation in Hospitality Award will accept submissions for its international competition starting Friday, Dec. 14.
All entries will be reviewed and three finalists will be selected by an esteemed jury: John Hardy, president/CEO, The John Hardy Group; Claude Amar, president, The John Hardy Group International; Michael Medzigian, chairman/managing partner, Watermark Capital Partners; Jena Thornton, managing director, Eagle Rock Ventures; Simon Turner, president, global development, Starwood Hotels; James Woods, president and chief operating officer, The Bowls; Wing Chao, renowned master planner, architect and designer. The event will be moderated by hospitality industry authority and speaker, Barbara DeLollis, Hotel Check-In Editor, USA Today.
Finalists present their concepts in front of the jury and a live audience on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas during Hospitality Design Expo. In the spirit of democracy, attendees will watch a debate by the jury, then vote for the best concept; the winner is announced at the conclusion of the event.
“Each year, we receive submissions that push the limits of what we expect from traditional hospitality as we set the stage for a showcase of true originality, often introducing groundbreaking concepts from around the world,” said John Hardy, president/CEO, The John Hardy Group.
How to Submit
Entries must include guestrooms and public areas. Food and beverage facilities or other amenities are highly encouraged. All submissions are scored on potential impact on the industry, design creativity, narrative, and viability.
The competition is open to all individuals, firms, and brands. Students will be judged in Entries will be accepted from Dec. 14 â€â€œ Mar. 1, 2013. The grand prize is $10,000, second prize is $5,000, and student prize is $1,500.
