InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of two Holiday Inn hotels in Colombia. Adding 285 rooms to IHG’s existing three-hotel portfolio in Colombia, the new hotels are slated for the northeast cities of Bucaramanga and Cucuta.
Scheduled to open in 2014 in Santander-one of the most upscale areas of the region-in the “city of parks,” the 187-room Holiday Inn Bucaramanga will make up part of a mixed-use, high-end development. Various restaurants, movie theaters, a gym, a 17-story office building, and the Cacique shopping mall will complete the complex.
Petroleum, manufacturing, and agriculture drive the local economy, making Bucaramanga a significant business destination. The hotel will feature a modern design in its bar, business center, restaurant, gym, indoor pool, and 11,000 square feet of meeting space.
Slated for Cucuta’s commercial area, the 98-room, 14-story Holiday Inn Cucuta will be located in front of Ventura Plaza, a prominent shopping center. With its proximity to the Colombian-Venezuelan border, Cucuta serves as a key import-export center. The Holiday Inn Cucuta will feature a restaurant, business center, outdoor swimming pool, meeting rooms, and fitness facility.
