The 114-key James New York has made its distinctive debut in New York. Leading the design charge is the Office for Design and Architecture (ODA) in collaboration with Perkins Eastman, as well as custom interiors by Amanda Sullivan with the James design team. Furniture curator Cristina Grajales has added items such as one-of-a-kind textiles, rugs made of all-natural fibers, and light fixtures to enhance the hotel’s design. Meanwhile, Dutch architect and interior designer Piet Boon is responsible for the ultra-luxurious Penthouse Loft offering expansive views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. The James will also play host to a mix of works by local and international artists.
Hip social spaces further define the hotel. A glass elevator transports guests from the ground floor entry to the glass-walled Sky Lobby, featuring a private living room and business networking lounge. Enclosed by industrial-like walls, a lush New York Urban Garden features grass and botanicals; the outdoors are further enhanced by the Garden Bar & Restaurant, opening next spring. An indoor/outdoor special events room features a private entrance, while a rooftop pool deck, bar, and lounge emphasize strong architectural features.
