The James Hotel brand, with properties in Chicago and New York, is planning its third location in Miami-a renovation of the original Royal Palm hotel in the heart of South Beach that’s on track to wrap in late 2012. The refurbishment of the James Royal Palm, with interiors by Lauren Rottet of Rottet Studio, will be respectful of the original hotel’s history, with several design elements paying homage to the Art Deco roots of the original hotel, as well as the local area.
In fact, the hotel will keep intact many signature elements of the original architecture, such as the wall paneling and terrazzo flooring in the entry foyer. The overall design aesthetic will be modern and residentially inspired, with a focus on local art and environmentally thoughtful touches, such as reclaimed materials and natural fibers. The color palette in both the public areas and guestrooms will reflect the property’s location, with shades of pale green and creamy white integrated in each area.
