Ensemble Hotel Partners has opened the Courtyard Philadelphia South at the Navy Yard. With 172 rooms, the Courtyard Philadelphia South marks the first hotel at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
The Navy Yard is a mixed-use campus rich in industrial history. Having emerged as a prominent business address, the site is currently home to more than 130 companies with 6.5 million square feet of space.

“It was very important to us that we create a hotel that reflected the historical significance and architectural sensibility of the Navy Yard,” says Conrad Garner, vice president of development for Ensemble Hotel Partners. “This is not your typical Courtyard.”

Locally based Erdy McHenry Architecture led the architecture of the five-story, LEED certified hotel, while Arlington, Virginia-based Ritsick Design Associates completed the interiors. The ground floor features a dining and lounge facility, fitness center, and 2,000 square feet of meeting space adorned with modern accents. The building’s signature feature is a curved glass exterior and a multifaceted composite metal panel façade.
