The Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach is currently undergoing a redesign. Slated to debut in December, the design will fashion a distinct sense of place that still embraces a golfing heritage.
Designed by a collaboration of New York-based MLG Architects, Seattle-based Monogram by Callison, Scottsdale, Arizona-based Testani Design Troupe, and Orlando, Florida-based EDSA, the 63-acre resort redesign will create a natural beach resort atmosphere.

Guests are welcomed to a refreshed open-air porte-cochère enhanced with wood and stone and surrounded by landscaped gardens. Throughout the lobby area, panoramic views through floor-to-ceiling windows reveal the waterfall, lagoon, deck, swimming pools, Floating Hole, and the nearby TPC Sawgrass course. New oversized furnishings and warmer hues will resemble a private residence.
The resort will replace the Augustine Grill with an expanded Starbucks and General Store and will revamp Café on the Green⎯⎯changing the name to Vernon’s and adding floor-to-ceiling views of the lagoon. The Café’s modern feel will feature a glass-enclosed wine cellar, open cooking stations, and upholstery and art reminiscent of golf culture.

V. Kelly’s Pub will be renamed Alice & Pete’s Pub. The pub will also be updated with mahogany-hued décor and a large terrace shaded by a wood pergola.
The resort’s 80 Golf villas will be enhanced with all new furniture, finishes, fixtures, appliances, and carpets. The villas offer two bedrooms and are outfitted with individual kitchens, as well as bathrooms with new vanities and light fixtures. Additional suites inside the main resort⎯⎯including the Presidential suite⎯⎯are also poised for refresh.
The 56,000 square feet of meeting space will receive new wall coverings, seating, light fixtures, and carpeting across 12 meeting spaces. The carpet patterns will mimic the trajectory of golf balls, while furnishings and fixtures will provide an upscale golf clubhouse appeal.

Ballrooms, pre-function areas, meeting rooms, and boardrooms will be completely re-vitalized with new artwork and memorabilia the new focal point of the resort. The refreshed 5,100-square-foot Island Green Pavilion now displays ivory and sand-toned drapery and subtle plaid carpet to tie the interiors back to the resort’s emblematic golf theme.

“The Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa offers all the amenities of a world-class resort, not to mention top-notch meeting facilities and convenient access to five championship golf courses,” says Richard Holtzman of Pyramid Hotel Group. “We expect that the new refresh will draw even more business and leisure travelers who appreciate the resort’s endless possibilities.”
