The William, a modern extended stay hotel in New York City, is offering a first look at the design of its guest suites. Located between Park and Madison Avenues, The William opens to guests on January 6th.

Designers Mason Wickham, Edwin Zawadzki, and Lilian Bakhash collaborated with artist William Engel to create interior spaces inspired by Engel’s works. Each floor uses monochromatic color theory with shades of bright blue, teal, red, green, or orange, with mid-century modern room furnishings.
The design team decided to work in a combined studio during the development phase of The William. “Working together atelier-style meant that we literally lived and breathed the Dutch oils used in Bill’s paintings,” notes Mason Wickham of In Situ Design. “As a result, the guestrooms are seeped in color that is not decorative, but visceral, three-dimensional and fully immersive.”
Floating walls separate living and sleeping quarters and antique smoked mirrors provide a reflective backdrop for fully equipped bistro-style kitchens. Menswear-inspired bathrooms feature deluxe rain showers.
In addition to a rooftop opening in the spring of 2014, the property offers two food and beverage spaces developed by restaurateurs Jason Hicks of Jones Wood Foundry and Yves Jadot of Raines Law Room.
