Helmed by restaurateur Frederick Lesort, Toro opens tomorrow (October 6) in the Smyth Tribeca. Toro. the Spanish word for bull, is a stylish lounge nestled underneath French brasserie Plein Sud. The venue is designed by AvroKO to pay homage to the town of Arles in the Camargue region of Southern France, known for its gypsy culture and ranches where horses and bulls are bred. Design details include weathered wood paneling, rustic terracotta tiles, and black leather and vibrant red fabrics boasting the colors of a traditional bullfighter’s uniform. Meanwhile, authentic matadors’ capes draped along the rear wall create a dynamic focal point in the room.
