Chef Jonathon Sawyer is opening Trentina restaurant this May in Cleveland, Ohio. Trentina pays homage to the cuisine of Trentino, a region in Northern Italy where Sawyer’s wife Amelia, and her family originate.
“Amelia and I wanted our next restaurant to be a true reflection of us, our family, and our city, with no outside influences,” Sawyer says. “The translation of the growing season in Trentino is so similar to that here in Cleveland that we’re able to offer authentic, Northern Italian dishes prepared simply, using locally sourced ingredients right from our backyard.”
Amelia Sawyer collaborated with local furniture designer Jason Radcliffe of 44 Steel and graphic designer Christine Wisniewski to complete the interiors. Metallic tones are significant with mirrored tables and gold walls, along with an original community art piece. The Sawyers collaborated with the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Cleveland on the installation-a chandelier made of iridescent beads strung together by Clevelanders. The restaurant, located within a historic house, will seat 35 guests.
