Donald Trump, president and chairman of the Trump Organization, and Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump, executive vice presidents of development and acquisitions, broke ground on Trump International Hotel, Washington, DC. Scheduled to complete in 2016, the property is undergoing a $200 redevelopment of the former Old Post Office Pavilion.

“We are absolutely thrilled to break ground today on what will be, in the very near future, one of the finest hotels anywhere in the world-Trump International Hotel, Washington, DC. Throughout the next two years, we will work to restore this magnificent building to even well beyond its original grandeur,” says Donald Trump. “The 270 guestrooms and suites, many with 16-foot ceilings, will be the largest of any luxury hotel in DC. Likewise, our ballroom, meeting, and event space will be the most luxurious of its kind on the East Coast and our Presidential suites will be the best worldwide.”
Trump International Hotel, Washington, DC will feature guestrooms with high windows, restored historic millwork, and crystal sconces and chandeliers. In addition, two Presidential suites will be located in the historic former offices of the Postmaster General. The suites will feature an oversized master bedroom; a formal dining room with original fireplace; a pantry and kitchen; a service entry; walk-in closets; exercise room; and a two-person shower and steam room.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to redevelop one of this country’s most historic buildings and we will spare no effort to ensure that the hotel, once completed, lives up to the legacy and integrity of this iconic landmark,” says Ivanka Trump. “Our commitment to historic preservation and long history of redeveloping landmark properties is reflected in our design approach, which is inspired by the legacy of this great structure and executed in a manner that captures the sophistication and luxury of our brand.”
Trump Hotel Collection will reinstate the 11th Street entrance on Pennsylvania Avenue, which will serve as the driveway to the hotel’s canopied grand entrance. The property’s ground level will include restaurants and luxury retailers located at both corners of the building.
