Melia Hotels International has opened two new resorts in Playa del Carmen, Mexico: Paradisus La Esmeralda and Paradisus La Perla, designed by the company’s architect, Alvaro Sans, to work harmoniously with the climate, terrain and coastline. La Esmeralda offers 512 luxury suites, including 56 swim-up suites, 122 Family Concierge suites and two Presidential suites.

Meanwhile, adults-only La Perla (pictured) has 394 suites, including 120 Royal Service suites, whose guests have access to a private pool bar, exclusive beds, and a private beach. Both resorts share amenities such as dramatic free-form pools, 12 restaurants and 10 bars, an activities center, and 25,000 square feet of function space. In addition, YHI Spa and Health Club 14 massage cabins, wet and dry saunas, a salon, and workout equipment.
