Rosewood Hotel Georgia will reopen May 7th, exactly 84 years to the day that the hotel first opened its doors in 1927. Toronto-based Munge Leung has relied on the hotel’s historic glamour and elegance as inspiration for the transformation. The design firm is maintaining many of the original design features, including the ornate 1920s lobby clock, while restoring the cornices and other original features around the reception, ballroom, and public areas.
The property’s 155 guestrooms and suites are adorned with a palette of light blue, ivory, and chocolate tones set against fine furnishings and spa-inspired bathrooms. Also available are two Penthouse Suites, the Lord Stanley Suite and the signature Rosewood Suite, both featuring a private rooftop terrace complete with city skyline views, outdoor hot tub, and fireplace.
Chef David Hawksworth will oversee his eponymous restaurant, which includes a seated bar and lounge area, as well as a first-floor private dining room overlooking the Art Gallery. Other F&B options include Prohibition, an underground vaulted cocktail lounge; 1927, the lobby bar; and Reflections, an outdoor patio on the fourth floor that offers an alternative venue for dining and entertaining.
Serving as the centerpiece of the hotel’s 10,000 square feet of meeting space is the Spanish ballroom, featuring handcrafted cornices, stained glass windows, and its original minstrel gallery. Guests will also have access to Sense, Rosewood’s signature spa, as well as a fitness center and 54-foot indoor salt water lap pool that reflects shimmering movement and light over a dramatic porte-cochère.
