Villa Monticello has opened in Accra’s Airport Residential Area in Ghana. As the brainchild of three Ghanaian entrepreneurs, the hotel combines local culture with the standards of a luxury boutique hotel.

Starting with the entranceway, the hotel’s global influence is revealed in Tuscan artwork, painted murals from up-and-coming Ghanaian artists, and marble from South Africa, which lines the base of the glass paneled wall fountain.

Fourteen individually themed suites showcase the hotel’s diversity. Commissioned photos of Ghana’s first president provide a backdrop to the rich gold and wood textures of custom local pieces in the Kwame Nkrumah presidential suite. Complete with a city skyline, the Manhattan suite recalls its namesake with a chic, urban design. Other themed suites include the Lake Como suite, the Nelsen Mandela suite, the Coco Chanel suite, and the Marrakesh suite⎯⎯each evoking their inspiration in unique designs.

Villa Monticello additionally offers two restaurants⎯⎯the 1A restaurant on the ground level and the Terrace, which overlooks the hotel’s pool area.

“We are truly excited about Villa Monticello and how it has been received in both the local and international marketplace,” says Efua Odunton, one of three owners who conceived the hotel. “Our vision was simple⎯⎯to create a product where we would want to stay. For us this meant not only creating a beautiful hotel but also a service portfolio that is relevant to Ghana, and an atmosphere that felt more like the elegant home of a close friend, than an impersonal hotel.”
