Fashion designer Vivienne Tam has finished work on a special designer suite at Hotel Icon in Hong Kong. Inspired by her New York apartment, Tam integrates Chinese accents and feng shui principles for a look that blends chinoiserie and modernity.

Located on the 27th floor, the 860-square-foot suite boasts a palette of rich woods and textured marble, along with specially commissioned items and objects taken from Tam’s private collection. Tam designed the ceiling to resemble a Chinese screen, complemented by a deep red sofa, a center table made of solid Japanese cherry wood, white relief artwork, and a raw wood slab that forms the desk.

In the bedroom, elements of Shanghai’s Art Deco period come alive in the sultry purple bed, a decorative bedside lamp, red velvet carpet, and Chinese courtesan plaques. What’s more, Tam custom made a number of art pieces, including a portrait of “Opera Girl” made entirely of Swarovski crystals.
