Featuring 217 guestrooms and 223 residences, W New York – Downtown Hotel & Residences has debuted in the Financial District. The glass-clad tower, designed by lead architect Gwathmey Siegel and Associates, sits on a five-story limestone and glass podium that features a subtle grid pattern of white, gray and clear glass panels. For the interiors, Berlin-based Graft has integrated a “ripple effect” concept, evident in UK light sculptor Bruce Murn’s massive light installation, which is suspended from the second floor ceiling and reaches down to the street lobby. The installation comprises 1,260 individually hung clear tear drop diffusers, illuminated via fiber-optic projectors with the ability to reprogram colorations at any time. The wave effect continues in the Living Room Bar & Terrace, where a Lamella curtain features thousands of LED lights recessed within the structure.
W New York – Downtown is also home to BLT’s first Bar & Grill concept, occupying a bi-level space designed by CCS Architecture. Other amenities include a state-of-the-art fitness center, 4,000 square feet of function space, and a rooftop terrace exclusive to condo owners.
