Starwood has announced plans for W Abu Dhabi, the first for the W brand in the United Arab Emirates. Located on the waterfront of Al Bateen Wharf, the hotel will boast five pools along with an impressive 54,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The 350-room hotel, which will be part of a multiuse development, will also feature 25 suites (including two "Extreme Wow" suites), a spa, three restaurants, lounge, and rooftop nightclub. The project is slated for a 2013 debut.
In addition to the new W hotel, Starwood has announced plans to operate all nine of its brands in the Middle East by 2013. The company remains on track to expand its portfolio in the region by 40 percent by the end of 2015.
