Inspired by the sparkling cocktail parties of the 1960s, the new Oakland dive Bardo Lounge & Supper Club radiates vintage splendor along Lakeshore Avenue. Locally based architecture and design practice Arcsine oversaw the midcentury-style project with a living room theme that emphasizes the homage to home entertainment.
Drawing influence from vintage cookbooks and entertaining guides, Arcsine furnished the interior with an assortment of vintage items that includes a centerpiece chandelier sourced from an old Oregon hotel. Medium-wood panels wrap the walls as a nod to midcentury style without evoking the qualities of a replica. An antique mirror is also fixed upon the backbar along with speaker cloth and brass bottle shelves. A reverse diamond-matched veneer tops the bar as well for a dash of the unexpected.
