A new paradigm in collective work and wellness, Blackbird is the first global, private coworking space targeted at women of color and allies. The first location is scheduled to open in Culver City, California this fall.
Designer Bridgid Coulter founded Blackbird in 2018 as a response to the influx of coworking spaces focused on empowering women, but lacking diversity. The Santa Monica-based Coulter will also be designing the space.
The Culver City debut of Blackbird features dedicated workspaces, private offices, conference rooms, social and community space, a café inspired by world cuisine, a black-box rehearsal theater, podcast studio, meditation space called bird-loft, and diverse programming that focuses on the work-life balance of women of color and their allies.
