Heyday has launched its first West Coast unit in Los Angeles within the L-shaped storefront of a former, midcentury body stop. The skincare brand emphasizes its cosmetic and wellness ethos, while also promoting custom interior designs and furnishings.
Spread across 3,200 square feet, the new outpost was conceived by Heyday cofounder Michael Pollak and the company’s director of store design Madeline Hemingway. The pair opted to embrace the shop’s original garage doors as well as its large windows and lofty ceilings. Local artist Steph Rager adorned the structure with a new mural, while chairs crafted by Kelly Wearstler populate the interior. A 700-square-foot covered patio is also featured.
“Since this was our first store on the West Coast, we wanted the design to reflect a laid-back California attitude,” says Hemingway. “We used soothing colors that reflect the natural landscape of Southern California, like warm desert sand, water, and obviously lots of cacti. We like to create comfortable spaces with an edge to reflect the space’s origins.”
