Chinese gourmet tea chain Heytea Lab has unveiled its latest location in Shenzhen, offering a vibrant, youthful atmosphere within a gray brick structure. Locally based firm TOMO Design crafted the new outpost in collaboration with interior designers Uno Chan and Xiao Fei. At nearly 13,000 square feet, the new Heytea Lab is divided into five “laboratories”: the peripheral lab, the ice-making lab, the dessert lab, the illustration lab, and the tea geek lab on the second floor.
The interior features stone benches and metal seating throughout, while a holistic experience is created in the minimalist courtyard. Located at the store’s entrance, the peripheral lab is accented by the façade’s LED elements. Upstairs, the ice-making and dessert labs are detailed with silver-metal counters, metallic grille detailing, gray emery floors, and bubble lights. The illustration lab is open on three sides to convey openness and clarity and emphasize the brand’s ethos of community. On the uppermost level, the tea geek lab is equipped with animated LED lighting, a pitched roof detailed with strip lights, and aluminum foam along the side walls.
