The final design for the new Feyenoord Stadium at the Maas in Rotterdam has been unveiled in new renderings from OMA. Pending approval, the project is slated to become the largest football stadium in the Netherlands upon completion in 2023.
Weaving in the DNA of Feyenoord’s existingDe Kuip stadium, the 63,000-seat arena will comprise a bowl shape detail with continuous curved tiers in close proximity to the pitch. Stretching partially over the river Maas, the stadium will also transform into a large-scale events venue on non-match days. A design from Lola Landscape will position the main concourse surrounding the stadium as a unique public space.
“The new Feyenoord Stadium will be as iconic and intense for the supporters and players of Feyenoord, and for the Dutch national team, as the historic Stadium de Kuip has been—but now fulfilling all top level UEFA regulations, and setting a new benchmark in contemporary stadium design,” says OMA managing partner and architect David Gianotten. “We look forward to finalizing the design and seeing the completed stadium in our hometown of Rotterdam.”
