Zzip Honey has opened its maiden store and café space in Tbilisi, Georgia. Just shy of 650 square feet, the theatrical retail space is anchored by an oversized disc installation reminiscent of a honeycomb or sun that showcases varieties on honey. The copper-coated structure is equipped with custom LED cutouts to dramatically illuminate the honey jars as well.
“The main challenge was to focus the attention on small items like honey products and present them like jewelry, as well as to create a certain grandeur to show that big things can happen in a small room,” says Irakli Abashidze, architect and founder of locally based firm Laboratory of Architecture #3, which crafted the concept.
Reflective materials also adorn the repurposed interiors to blur actual sizes and boundaries of the modest footprint. Sleek, modern tables and seating invite guests to immerse themselves in the space, while a museum-like wall featuring text, bottling, and storage displays illuminate the products further.
