Looking Ahead: 2018 Hotel Openings

One of 13 new Preferred Hotels properties to open in 2018, the Middle House in Shanghai will feature 111 rooms and 102 residences with interiors by Milanese architect and designer Piero Lissoni.

Another forthcoming Preferred Hotels property, Montage Hotels & Resorts is developing its first hotel outside the U.S. with the Montage Los Cabos, a breathtaking property set on 39 acres of beachfront in Santa Maria Bay.

Aman’s fourth property in China and first in Shanghai, Amanyangyun will evoke an Asian-inspired minimalism while embracing its bucolic setting with 26 dwellings housed within 50 disassembled ancient residences fully transformed by longtime Aman collaborator the Singapore and Perth, Australia-based Kerry Hill Architects.

Alila Hotels and Resorts, Two Roads Hospitality’s luxury brand, is seeking visionary designers to craft its five properties set to open across Asia this year, including the Alila Villas Koh Russey from Singapore studio Studiogoto, scheduled for a fall 2018 debut.

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas’ will launch at least six new resorts and spas next year, all with the brand’s signature panache. Look no further than the LEED-certified Six Senses Shaharut, arriving in Israel’s Nagev Desert later this year with 58 villas and suites integrated into the desert topography.

As the latest property for lifestyle brand Joie de Vivre, the Revival at Mount Vernon Place will embrace its location in the historic Baltimore neighborhood with a locally informed design from Baltimore’s Schamu Machowski + Patterson Architects and SLDesign of Philadelphia.

Poised to mark the brand’s entry into the U.S. when it arrives this spring, the Hoxton Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York, courtesy of Ennismore Design Studio and Soho House with architecture by Perkins Eastman, boasts a one-of-a-kind design element: The restaurant’s open kitchen is housed within the site’s original century-old restored carriage house.

Arriving in the Opus building within the Burj Khalifia district, ME by Meliá is expanding its footprint in the Middle East for the first time with the ME Dubai, complete with an avant garde design by late architect Zaha Hadid.

Set for a spring debut, the 167-room Perry Lane hotel melds Savannah, Georgia’s historic charm with an elegant and spacious design in the new-build boutique hotel from owner Jon Kully (who is also managing partner of Flank, the New York-based architectural and real estate development firm responsible for the project), and local firm Hansen Architects.

One of Ocean Drive’s largest hospitality developments from Optimum Development, Celino South Beach will be a glamorous addition to Miami thanks to a $40 million renovation from Highgate, Iconink, Space4Architecture, Borges + Associates Architects, and Navigate Design, which will design the light and airy interiors.

Virgin Hotels continues to ramp up its offerings with its 192-room San Francisco property that will combine Virgin’s signature energetic aesthetic with the Bay Area’s forward-thinking style when it opens this summer.

Set for a March debut, the first hotel from Serafina Restaurant Group will be the 96-room Serafina Beach Club in San Juan, Puerto Rico with a design conceived by New York firm ICRAVE that evokes a youthful, bohemian charm with a tropical flair.

Santa Monica, California firm Studio Collective is renovating the circa-1926 former YWCA into the 268-key Hotel Figueroa, bringing the downtown LA property back to its original Spanish Colonial splendor.
