Element by Westin in Vaughan, Ontario, will open in spring 2013 as the green hotel brand’s first property in Canada. Sustainable amenities will include in-room recycling bins, water-efficient fixtures (which save 5,300 gallons of water per guestroom per year), eco-friendly paints, and an electric vehicle charging station. In addition, the hotel will be built to attain LEED certification and will purchase 35 percent of its electricity from renewable resources such as wind power.
