Gaylord Entertainment has launched “GET Green,” its corporate sustainability program. Long-term goals include reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2015 and pursuing LEED certification for all future developments. Initially, GET Green will build off three major environmental focus areas: energy efficiency and emissions reductions, water reduction, and water conservation.
“After studying our operations and completing our first greenhouse gas emissions inventory, we decided that energy and emissions were our first priorities,” says Andy Mims, who oversees Gaylord’s sustainability efforts. “But water, waste, and air quality are very important areas for us as well, and we will be announcing similar goals and targets in the very near future.”
