Hotel San Cristóbal

Lake Flato’s architecture for the 32-room Hotel San Cristóbal draws influence from the coastal town’s historic reputation as a “pueblo mágico” village, reminiscent of the carefree vibes of the 1970s Baja Peninsula. The San Antonio-based firm crafted the property—the first international property from Liz Lambert of Bunkhouse Group—with numerous indoor-outdoor spaces to further immerse guests in the picturesque landscape.

Varying room-to-room, Liz Lambert and her in-house team outfitted the guestrooms with all things local, including encaustic cement tiles, bespoke furniture from Guadalajara artisans, custom ceramic light fixtures, and bedspreads by a mother and son team outside Oaxaca. And after noticing concrete floors in Todos Los Santos stamped with different designs and reliefs, the same treatment is repeated in many of the rooms.

Clad with floor-to-ceiling windows, rooms boast outdoor patios with ocean or desert views.

Multiple bathrooms are equipped with outdoor showers and soaking tubs donning bold traditional Mexican porcelain tiles.

The tile motif continues into the bathrooms, where serape kimonos add a touch of authenticity.
