Mattress Renewal Pro is helping hoteliers keep mattress sets out of landfills through its revitalization program. For the renewal process, the company ships all new materials directly to the site in vacuum-sealed roll packs. In the time it takes housekeepers to turn a room, specialists renew the mattresses right in the guestroom with new quilting and upholstery layers. The company estimates that a typical hotel with about 150 beds can expect to save between $15,000 and $25,000 by renewing their mattresses rather than replacing them.
“When you find that a mattress is sagging in the middle, most of the time it is the worn upholstery materials and the quilting that is breaking down, not the springs,” says Jeremy Metz, founder of Mattress Renewal Pro. “We took a 15-year-old mattress, which was sagging in the middle, and opened it up. What we found was compacted upholstery in the middle and perfectly flat springs. This has been the case in every mattress we have renewed since.”
