Meritus Hotels and Resorts (MHR) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Funtasy Island Development (FID) Pte Ltd for the management of a deluxe resort development. Located on the Riau Island Province, Indonesia, the development is slated to be the largest eco-theme park and the first gated island community in the world.

Slated to open in 2014, Funtasy Island will comprise of a 200-room condo-hotel, a 230-suite hotel, and 413 villas along with retail, convention, dining, and recreational facilities. The development is spread over 814 acres of small islands-preserving 70 percent of its total area as a nature sanctuary.
All hotel guestrooms feature timber floors and natural décor and art under vaulted ceilings, as well as oversized outdoor verandas. The two-story Corallium villa and Forest bungalow boast gabled buttresses and an open-plan living and dining space-both designed to coexist harmoniously with the surrounding environment. 

Eco-themed activities will include aquaculture tours and nature trails, as well as a water park and the Fido Digo sport club. Planted with local heart leafed plants, the Love island is also available for weddings.
