MGM Resorts International has released its 2013 Corporate Social Responsibility Executive Summary. Themed “Inspiring Our World,” the summary highlights the company’s commitment to diversity, engagement with its communities, and stewardship of environmental resources.
“We strongly believe our CSR efforts make us not only a better company; they also make us a better citizen. We are committed to enhancing and expanding our philanthropy, diversity, and sustainability initiatives in ways that help improve our community,” says Jim Murren, chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International. In the past year, MGM Resorts achieved an annual recycling diversion rate of 52.6 percent, exceeding the company’s goal of a 50 percent diversion rate. Nearly 65,000 tons of materials were diverted from landfills and recycled.
The company also upgraded more than 160 acres of exterior lighting to high efficiency technology, helping it to save 24 million kilowatt hours of electricity since 2012. Fifteen properties within MGM Resorts have received Green Key Eco-Ratings, while five properties haven been awarded a Green Key Meetings program 5-Key rating.
