Movenpick Hotels & Resorts has earned Green Globe Certification for all its properties in the Middle East. Over the last 12 months, the chain has reduced the use of potable water equivalent to sving one Olympic pool of water per week, each week for a year. In addition, hotels cut 11,765 tons of CO2. That’s the same as the emissions of five nonstop round-trip flights from Dubai to London.
The energy reduction achieved in a year is equal to powering a 200-room hotel for 18 months. Movenpick also saved about $700,000 in utilities, representing a 4 percent drop in water and electricity costs. Green Globe Certification and its preferred partner Farnek Avireal will continue to monitor the reduction of environmental impacts across the Mövenpick properties in the Middle East.
