A geothermally heated hotel is in the works for Mammoth Lakes, California. The Handmade Hotel Mammoth View, developed by Britannia Pacific Properties, will take advantage of the area’s hot springs for eco-sensitive heating and cooling of the property. The five-and-a-half-acre project calls for a 54-room boutique hotel and 52 residences comprising 28 eco cabins and 24 eco lofts. Additional environmentally friendly initiatives will include meeting 50 percent of irrigation water demand from reclaimed snow melt and rain runoff, saving 50 percent of the mature trees on site, and using reclaimed timber harvested from the site.
