The 185,000-square-foot Pasadena Convention Center, designed by Fentress Architects, has achieved LEED Gold certification-the first convention center to do so in California.
Strategies implemented at the Pasadena Convention Center to achieve LEED Gold include:
- 23 percent more energy efficient than California Title-24 requirements
- 37 percent reduction in overall water consumption
- Innovative natural storm water filtration and mitigation system
- 42 percent of all building materials were manufactured locally or regionally
- 15 percent of all building materials manufactured with recycled content
- 95-plus percent of construction waste was diverted from landfills
- $400,000 savings by recycling and repurposing structural concrete from original exhibit building
