Radisson is the first hotel brand in the U.S. to provide guests with luxurious linens made from Tencel+Plusâ„¢ Lyocell. The fabric, produced by Lenzing Fibers and offered by Valley Forge, is made of eucalyptus. It meets a number of sustainable factors:
- The eucalyptus trees used are grown in Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) forests, an independent nonprofit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC forests are protected from over-cutting; a maximum 10 percent is cut annually.
- Tencel+Plus manufacturing uses 100 times less water than the manufacturing of cotton.
- In a unique closed-loop system, 99.6 percent of the solvent is reused in the fiber production.
- The solvent is non-toxic, and the fiber factory is almost 100 percent energy independent.
- Tencel+Plus fiber is the only FSC certified fiber that can contribute to LEED points.
- An established reclamation program redistributes this product after its useful life.
The linens’ benefits include moisture management, natural thermo regulation, reduced bacteria growth, and smoothness for sensitive skin.
