RPB Hotels and Resorts is commissioning Omaha-based architecture practice HDR to design its newly proposed Ramada Hotel in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. The 12-story tower will be one of the first timber projects of its size in the province.
The 82-suite hotel will comprise partial encapsulation and exposed cross-laminated timber (CLT) in addition to glulam, or glue-laminated timber. Glass projections on the façade will establish common social areas on each floor to serve as social hubs. Retail spaces and the main lobby will be housed on the street level.
Construction is slated to kick off in 2021.
