The Gensler-designed Shore Hotel in Santa Monica, California, has attained LEED Gold certification. The property recycled 50 percent of its construction waste, including metals, concrete, stucco, terrazzo, wood, and carpet. Ten percent of all building materials came from within a 500-mile radius.
In addition, the hotel employs a “green concierge,” who provides guests with personal recommendations and in-depth knowledge of sustainable activities, dining, services, and events in the city. The hotel also has a Green Clean Program.
