With an eye toward sustainability, Starwood Hotels & Resorts has moved into its new global headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. HOK designed the offices to LEED certification, implementing green features such as energy-saving LED and CFL lighting, recycled carpeting, woods certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), low-VOC finishes, and water-conserving plumbing fixtures.
“Not only does this move to Stamford make great business sense, but it also provides the opportunity to design office space that is illustrative of Starwood’s leadership in global hospitality, design, and brand-building, as well as our commitment to the environment and our communities,” says Frits van Paasschen, Starwood’s president and CEO.
