The Pierre, a Taj Hotel, is the first lodging in New York to attain Silver EarthCheck Certification. Among the luxury hotel’s sustainable initiatives:
- 100 percent recycling policy for paper, plastic, glass and cardboard
- Use of eco-friendly products in biodegradable containers, including Molton Brown bath amenities
- All guestrooms and suites outfitted with organic mattresses and new sound-insulated, energy-efficient windows
- Food products sourced 85 percent locally and regionally, with preference given to organic products whenever possible
Green practices on the horizon include electricity using natural gas, establishing an herb garden, and sourcing only biodegradable chemicals.
