Kimpton’s Hotel Palomar Dallas and Hotel Palomar San Diego have been awarded silver-level Green Seal certification. To achieve the honor, the hotels had to meet the organization’s standards in environmental compliance, waste minimization and recycling, energy and water conservation measures, waste water protection, hazardous substances, and bulk and environmentally preferable product and equipment purchasing.
“Being ‘green’ isn’t a trendy catch phrase for us, it is a tangible philosophy and way of doing business that we live and breathe at each and every one of our hotels and restaurants,” says Andrew Wright, general manager of Hotel Palomar Dallas. “Our guests expect us to roll out the ‘green’ carpet by offering paperless check-in/out, eco-friendly shampoo and conditioner, organic beverages in honor bars and organic coffee and tea in the lobby, a mix of energy-efficient lighting, and much more.”
Adds Mark Dibella, general manager of Hotel Solamar San Diego: “[The certification] is a validation not only of our Kimpton EarthCare efforts, but our company culture which embodies the values of environmental respect and sustainability. As a neighbor and partner in San Diego, we believe that the need to operate in an eco-friendly fashion meets the desires and aspirations of both our staff and guests.”
