Viceroy Hotel in Snowmass, Colorado, has achieved LEED Gold certification. Designed by OZ Architecture, the 154-key property implemented a host of sustainable solutions from the moment it broke ground. These include:
- Soil removed from the site was reused throughout Snowmass, reducing the need to transport soil off site
- Mass transit provided for construction workers to and from the job site
- Preference given to building materials sourced and manufactured locally to minimize the impact of transporting materials
- Construction waste management plan included reducing, reusing, and recycling of waste
- Utilization of materials high in recycled content
- Remanufactured concrete structures, plumbing, and electrical assemblies to reduce waste on site
- Use of refillable bottles for soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc.
- Hotel parking placed below grade to preserve 50 percent open space on site and reduce impervious site surfaces
- Incorporation of low-flow plumbing fixtures, dual-flush toilets, and waterless urinals
- Building systems and envelope designed to optimize energy performance
- Thermostats in rooms equipped with motion sensors to deactivate heating or cooling if the room is unoccupied
