Host Hotels & Resorts has recognized the Westin Denver Downtown with a sustainability award that recognizes the hotel’s commitment to the environment. The property has a number of sustainability initiatives, including a compost program; online in-room dining menu and guest directory; soy- or corn-based packaging for to-go and box meals; and recycling in all 430 guestrooms, public spaces, and back-of-house. For Earth Day, the Westin will provide biodegradable wooden key cards to all guests.
Additionally, the hotel recently installed Aqua Recycle, which reduces water consumption in the hotel laundry by 80 percent. At that same time, the hotel acquired kitchen equipment that reduces energy consumption up to 25 percent, with an added benefit of quicker preparation time.
