Yosemite Lodge at the Falls has completed a $10 million eco-friendly refurbishment of the hotel’s guestrooms and lobby. Keeping with operator Delaware North Companies (DNC)’s environmental stewardship platform GreenPath, the hotel’s guestrooms were remodeled using sustainable methods.
The rooms were designed with a soothing, neutral palette and are adorned with Yosemite-themed artwork by local photographers. All of the rooms were painted with low or zero VOC paint. Along with new carpet and bathroom tiles made from recyclable materials, each room includes ENERGY STAR flatscreen televisions. Lighting was also enhanced with steel wall sconces, pendants, and floor lamps using energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs.
The hotel sourced furniture made from midwestern hickory saplings-the hardest wood in North America and a renewable source that continually re-sprouts from the same stump. The guest bed headboards are designed with an uncut and natural live edge, making each unique.

Bathroom eco-friendly elements include refillable bath amenity dispensers to reduce plastic waste and bamboo wastebaskets and tissue holders. The toilets use only 1.28 gallons of water per flush, which will save 5,000 gallons of water each year.
During the renovation process, DNC Parks & Resorts at Yosemite was able to divert more than 117 tons of construction waste from a landfill, contributing to a 52 percent diversion rate. All guestroom furniture replaced in the renovation was repurposed and the old bathroom fixtures were donated to Habitat for Humanity.
