Director of Hospitality Design
NICOLEHOLLIS, San Francisco
Client presentation tips: I’m at a slight advantage over most thanks to my years of speech and debate team. Highly recommend. But I also take my cues from Nicole [Hollis, the firm’s creative director and principal] in taking the time at the beginning to read the room. That way you can understand more clearly what the client wants to cover. It may not be what we had prepared, but that approach always leads to a more successful meeting.
What’s on your boards? Resort season is in full swing: We’ve got two new ones in the works in Hawaii, a winery in the Napa region, and a private ski lodge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
What trend needs to go? Designing via Pinterest.
Can’t live without: I love my plane ritual of Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator and In Fiore’s “liquid gold” [Complexe de Fleur] to deal with jet-lagged skin.
In my next life I will: Own a coffee shop (beautifully designed, of course), sourcing unique coffees and offering a place for people to gather and just be.
