Mr. C Coconut Grove, Miami
We’ve worked with Cipriani a number of times now, so it was great to introduce the brand to Miami. There is a charming terrace at the back of the hotel. You walk through the double-height reception lobby and are instantly enveloped in a verdant terrace area, featuring chrome-accented furniture, a patterned tiled floor, and elegant seating inspired by iconic midcentury designs. This is a great space to kick back with a Negroni and unwind.
The Surf Club Restaurant, Miami
I wanted to use a color palette of Aurelian blue, dusty pink, and mulberry red, which would work well with sleek timber paneling and brass detailing while complementing chef Thomas Keller’s world-class cuisine. The wall murals by Gary Myatt are painted within the window arches and create the appearance of looking out to the ocean beyond. I also like the artwork by Donald Robertson, who incorporated original photography of the club during its 1930s heyday with his jovial watercolor illustrations. The combination of artwork brings the whole restaurant to life.
Le Chardenoux, Paris
It has just 38 covers, so we wanted to make sure we used the space to its best advantage. We reconfigured the floorplan and introduced a mixture of banquette seating with traditional bistro chairs. The bar was a listed item, so we had to be very mindful when working around it. The introduction of the burgundy color was inspired by the red veins that naturally occur in the marble-fronted bar, helping to tie the restaurant together.
