Project: Nike Unlaced, Paris
As a spatial designer, Robert Storey’s work requires a malleable, temporary quality that still leaves a lasting impression. Consider his most recent collaboration with Nike, the Unlaced concept store that launched during Paris fashion week and is geared toward Nike’s new female focus with a mesmerizing display of the brand’s iconic shoes. Time being the greatest challenge, the project was created in less than two weeks with a design that “celebrates existing features within this Parisian apartment and transformed the interior through architectural and material interventions,” he says. Pops of color, much of it from the merchandise, and shiny materials such as latex, shrink wrap, and perspex juxtapose fur, foam, and a monochrome palette to create “the stylish, sexy, and sporty environment.” Rotating seating in the lounge and an interactive 360-degree view of the space places the product centerstage, creating a personalized and immersive experience for female sneakerheads, he notes, “further elaborating on the concept in a tactile and visceral way.”
