From custom chandeliers to dining chairs, echoes of the French countryside abound in Quality Bistro. AvroKO overhauled and expanded the location in Midtown Manhattan to perpetuate a bird theme and ensconce diners in a dreamlike garden setting. “We wanted the space to feel refined and wild all at once,” says principal Adam Farmerie, who founded the firm along with William Harris, Kristina O’Neal, and Greg Bradshaw. “The overall space feels a bit like a grand Belle Epoque hotel with an aviary bent that is now overrun by the once-manicured gardens.” The studio’s local office collaborated with artists from Silver Hill Atelier to craft the sculpted and painted fowl that dot the space, set against an ornate backdrop of Bleu de France tones. “We had the idea that the paintings should almost escape their frames and continue to extend onto the walls,” he adds. “An idea that was brilliantly brought to life.”
