To craft Buenos Aires’ largest beer bar, local firm Hitzig Militello Arquitectos chose a strong material palette of wood and limestone to inform the design and the menu. Sliding wooden screens define the cavernous space, forming the walls, ceiling, and backbar. Living walls and an installation of dense greenery suspended from the ceiling mix with the screens to form “an equilibrium of two elements, creating an atmosphere of nature and design,” notes cofounder and architect Leonardo Militello. Adds owner Delong Sui: “The cocktail menu was designed to match the theme of the design, such as the Nim Bar Julep and Jasmine Tonic, which use mint leaves that [the restaurant grows] itself.”
