The in-house design team at Kamalame Cay included founders Brian and Jennifer Hew and co-directors Michael King and David Hew. The easy island aesthetic mixes with a rustic, colonial vibe in the new villas (Indigo Palm shown here) for “a celebration of living life right on the beach,” says King.

Decks that overlook the beach are part of the easy living atmosphere. But there were some challenges. Being a remote island in the middle of the Bahamas made logistics “a central element of every building,” says David.

The cozy bedrooms in Indigo Palm feature hardwood floors that mix with indigo blue tones and bright white for a breezy, island feel.

A large living space in each villa features white hues with wood accents, including a wood-slatted ceiling and French doors that open out to the ocean. Dorado (shown) is a mix of modern and beach décor that uses the natural light as a focal point.

Each villa (such as Indigo Palm, shown) features a central living room with doors that open on both sides, one to the Atlantic Ocean and the other to the Great Barrier Reef, while bright art and accessories add to the white and wood palette. “Simple luxuries are made even better when accompanied with great views,” says King.
