To complement the hotel’s contemporary French profile, Kalinowski—along with her interior design adviser Karla Prevet of Roche Bobois LA—crafted the salon to reflect European style and comfort.

“I wanted the salon to flow with the rest of the hotel, taking color and texture inspiration from the spa, bar, and lobby,” says Kalinowski.

The boutique salon comprises three stylist stations with floor-to-ceiling mirrors, a drying station, and makeup application area.

“Everyone immediately compliments the chandelier and mirrors against a matte black wall,” says Kalinowski.

The outdoor environment was designed as a respite from urban life and features French statement pieces accented by planters of reclaimed wood with fresh lavender.

“The biggest challenge was furniture arriving on time and in the correct color,” says Kalinowski. “The outdoor console arrived gray, not black as pictured. I had to sand the whole thing down, repaint it, and add a shelf nearby made of imported French wine crates that we stained.”
