The details: The romance of a remote getaway peaks—literally—in Italy’s Dolomites. Maximizing the backdrop of the mountain range, the Lefay Resort & Spa Dolomiti occupies an impossible elevated plateau that immerses visitors in isolated opulence. “The request was very clear: to firmly recall the mountain style, but at the same time detach from the archetypes of South Tyrolean folklore,” says Alberto Apostoli, founder of the multidisciplinary Studio Apostoli. The firm sought to “express the highest concept of Italian aesthetic sensitivity,” he adds.

Traditional materials are employed via a contemporary lens, with features like wood paneling that forms striking geometric compositions on walls and midcentury-inspired interiors, including tobacco oak elements that mingle with velvet and leather seating. Nature is further evoked via three indoor pools set against panoramic mountain views, culminating in a wellness-first aesthetic. “Wellbeing is born from a perfect mix of technical and emotional components,” Apostoli says.
